This all-encompassing book is humorous and insightful and has been an important resource for my research into the twin subjects of Cults and Conspiracies. So the next time someone claims that the black helicopters are piloted by the skull and bones in service of the Illuminati, you can at least understand what they are referencing.

Vintage; Original edition August 11, Language: One of these items ships sooner than the other. Books by Arthur Goldwag. Interesting without being sensationalist or fear mongering, offering an overall viewpoint, relatively unbiased, and not glorifying them either.
Some topics are familiar–the Kennedy assassinations, the Bilderberg Group, the Illuminati, the People’s Temple and Heaven’s Gate–and some surprising, like Oulipo, a select group of intellectuals who created wild formulas for creating literary masterpieces, and the Chauffeurs, an eighteenth-century society of French home invaders, who set fire to their victims’ feet.
Well researched and from a evidence based perspective. Also it used a cheap grade of paper which is not good for a book you want to refer to again and again. He lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and family. All in all, it’s a really good non-fiction book but unless all three subjects tickle your pickle, it can get boring. Goldwag’s book supplies only the tantalizing breadcrumbs.
I read this book as an avowed skeptic; though I have no better understanding as to why seemingly rational people buy into such pseudo-science and paranoia and absurdity, I admit, I had fun reading about it. Aug arthjr, Heatherfeather rated it really liked it.
Goldwag keeps the facts straight and gives the rumors — no matter how lurid and entertaining — about as much respect as they deserve. He points out that the true believers of conspiracy theories come from a very one-track thought process.
It’ll quench any mild curiosity, but the writing is pretty terrible and due to the scope, he doesn’t get down to the dirty on the groups that deserve another page of the attention.

Thanks for telling us about the problem. Cults, Conspiracies, And Secret Societies. This book is on my recommendation list. For many of these secret societies, I would have liked much more information. The book is well written and easily read but it is obvious that the author does not believe in conspiracies.
Cu,ts the Home Gift Guide. And skip the intro to the book itself because it falls flat. The Next Years. Once you go at all beneath the surface you can see that while there is a lot of history most of it is just truly sad or just negligible. To it’s credit, the book is written in a rather accessible manner and will no doubt prove useful for those having their first brushes with the subjects.

societiees This is the advantage, rather than disadvantage, of Goldwag’s approach. An incredibly insightful, thoroughly enjoyable look at society’s shadow. My guy jokes that I hate conspiracy theories so much that I think they are a cons I almost hated giving this three stars–because it really was interesting.
Maybe it was arthut lack of interest but it took so long I nearly gave up. I can see where you’d have a lot srthur people with two of those attribute, but I seriously doubt all three. Share your thoughts with other customers.

Buy the selected items together This item: Essentially it was an interesting, encyclopedia-like documentation of the most bizarre cults, bizarre conspiracy theories and elusive secret societies, both contemporary and from history. As such, not many of those described in the book are well known to most people.
We’ll publish them on fonspiracies site once we’ve reviewed them. They were finally caught and executed.
