Must read for anyone interested in pushing themselves and their creativity to the next level. Aulet is not afraid to take a hammer to some rock-solid myths, such as the belief that an entrepreneurial venture is commonly the work of a lone hero CEO.
Instead, the book is a manual, with illustrations to give it a casual feel and “ah-ha! This book takes you through a systematic approach to significantly increase your odds of succeeding in making a world changing and sustainable company. This book will show you how to create a successful startup through developing an innovative product. This book provides enough guidance to help you succeed but not too much to stifle creativity. Disciplined Entrepreneurship will help you put the right foot forward on all 24 steps that follow.

So, I stopped reading because I am going to give it to someone else SO, two things: Other similar books, such as “The Lean Startup”, are great too, but this book gives you a more comprehensive guide, covering pretty much all aspects of starting up a new venture.
Very good book from MIT, teaches the step by step of creating your business, starting with the most important: Bill intelligently deconstructs the entire process of starting a successful company, insofar as such a complex process can be deconstructed. My goto reading suggestion for anyone wanting to get into entrepreneurship.
However, Bill Aulet’s Disciplined Entrepreneurship is a rare book. Return to Book Page. It has a lot of shades of “Startup Owners Manual” and “Lean Startup”, which makes sense consdiering those are two zulet tomes of the Entrepreneurship world.
Way too academic and theoretical for a first time entrepreneur. I wish I had this 3 years ago. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. The problem with this book and others like it is there’s no one right way to do things.

Bill Aulet is a long time practicing entrepreneur and an instructor at MIT, one of the most rigorous institutions in the world. The production quality is top-notch. It’s not a must-read. It provides a deeper look into case studies than most similar books I’ve read. Bill wrote this book during my short stay at MIT in Want to Read saving…. At times, it seemed a little dumb to go through this process with data that was not accurate. I’ve been flirting with the idea of graduate school for a few years now, and decided to sit in on a couple MBA classes to help inform my indecision.
Im proud to have a chapter based on the work I did during one of his great classes.
That said, the parts I focused on were great. I am currently going through these steps using detoolbox. While the spirit of entrepreneurship is often about serendipity, the execution is not.
